Oh Worms, Earth’s Friend
Oh worms, Earth’s friend,
The soil you amend.
Your excrement, black and dense
Sweet smelling, gives us no offense.
Your gift to green things growing bright Gives them inspiration to seek the light.
Like spinning straw into gold
You recycle waste, a miracle to behold.
Your small and ordinary self,
In numbers large, produce great wealth.
Wealth in healthy plants and soil
Plans for more landfills, your efficiency foils.
And so our thanks, to you we lend
For turning dead matter into life again.
